How a Reverse Osmosis System can Help With the Bottled Water Shortage

The temperatures in Las Vegas begin to rise around this time every year, indicating that summer is just around the corner. In response, many residents begin buying more bottled water, adding a couple of cases each time they go to the store.

In recent weeks, largely due to “panic buying” in response to Coronavirus fears, shoppers have encountered bare shelves in stores throughout Clark County. The selection of non-perishable goods and hygiene items is sparse at best and there is literally no toilet paper or bottled water in many stores — and that was actually before there were any confirmed cases in Nevada.

An official statement released by the Southern Nevada Health District on March 9, 2020, confirmed that there are two “presumptive positive” cases of COVID-19 in Clark County. Both people traveled by plane prior to developing symptoms and are currently in isolation. There are four total cases in Nevada.

What should consumers do?

Instead of panicking or going without an emergency supply of clean drinking water, Las Vegas residents do have an alternative: having a reverse osmosis system installed.

A reverse osmosis system removes more than 90% of contaminants through multiple stage filtration. You have an essentially unlimited supply of fresh, safe drinking water right in your own home. Aside from anything to do with Coronavirus, there are clear benefits of getting a reverse osmosis system. Cleaner, better-tasting drinking water and reducing the amount of single-use plastic water bottles you use are just a couple of them.

As there are many options in the market, it is best to go with a professionally built and installed system to ensure adequate water production for your home’s needs. Most reverse osmosis options require minimal maintenance, typically requiring filters be replaced twice a year or even less often.

EcoWater Systems has been working to find ways to make water safer and cleaner for nearly 100 years and we’ve been serving our Las Vegas-area customers since 1983. If you have any questions on reverse osmosis systems or need some guidance on which one is right for you, contact us today.
